Yamaha

Yamaha started in 1887 as a piano and organ manufacturer. They are the same Yamaha that makes motorcycles, sporting equipment and electronics. They incorporated in 1897 as the Nippon Gakki Company. The company was renamed Yamaha Corporation in 1987 to celebrate their 100th anniversary.

Yamaha introduced their first guitar in 1942 but did not market them until the mid 60's due to the breathe of products they were marketing at that time. Today Yamaha is one of the largest producers of musical instruments. The Yamaha Corporation of America was started to aid production and marketing of Yamaha guitars in the US.
